BUSINESS STAR AWARDS — The Poway Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Business Star Awards from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 25 at the Bernardo Winery, 13330 Paseo Del Verano North in Rancho Bernardo. Cost to attend is $110. This event is open to members and non-members. Register at poway.com.

FAMILY CAMPOUT — Enjoy a night under the stars with the Lake Poway Family Campout from 6 a.m. Saturday, June 26 to 9 a.m. Sunday, June 27 at Lake Poway, 14644 Lake Poway Road. Official start time is 1 p.m. Saturday, but families can check in as early as 6 a.m. Activities include guided evening hikes, a campfire with s’mores and Extreme Rahim with his magic/comedy show. Fishing is also available but license is not included. Bring your own camping equipment, dinner supplies, grill and charcoal. HAM RADIO EVENT — The Poway Amateur Radio Society will hold a free amateur radio demonstration at Lake Poway from 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26 through 11 a.m. Sunday, June 27. The overnight event is part of the annual American Relay League Field Day. The public is welcome to observe and operate the equipment as time permits. Lake Poway is at 14644 Lake Poway Road.
FREE MOVIE — The City of Poway presents its free Summer Movies in the Park event with “The Croods: A New Age” from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at Poway Community Park, 13094 Civic Center Drive. RB PARADE, CARNIVAL — The Rancho Bernardo Community Council and Recreation Committee is holding a free old-fashioned Independence Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3 in Rancho Bernardo Community Park, 18448 W. Bernardo Drive. A parade of bicycles, scooters, golf carts and walkers will start at 10 a.m. There will be carnival games and other free activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food trucks will be on site for food purchase. FOURTH OF JULY — The City of Poway’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration returns from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 4 at Old Poway Park, 14134 Midland Road. This free event includes patriotic entertainment, western reenactors, free children’s crafts, train displays and old-fashioned games. Treats and train rides will be available for a nominal fee. POWAY FIREWORKS — The City of Poway will hold two firework shows from 9 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 4. They will be at Poway High School, 15500 Espola Road, and the Poway Sportsplex, 12349 McIvers Court in the business park. Attendance is free. For details, visit poway.org.
RB FIREWORKS — The only Spirit of the Fourth activity will be a 9 p.m. fireworks show on Sunday, July 4. Gates open at 6 p.m. with musical entertainment before the fireworks. Viewing will be from the Bernardo Heights Middle School field, with a suggested donation of $10 per person or $20 per family. Bring blankets or lawn chairs. Free parking is in the Rancho Bernardo High School student lot, south of the stadium and accessible from Avenida Venusto. Overflow parking is along adjacent streets.
