MEDIA SALE — The Friends of the Poway Library will hold its “Thrifty Thursday Media Sale” featuring movies, music, TV series and more from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 on the library’s patio, 13137 Poway Road. Saturday, Sept. 4

FOOD DRIVE — Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church will hold a drive-thru food drop-off from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 in the church’s upper parking lot, 17010 Pomerado Road. Donations will be given to 4 Community Care, a non-profit food pantry serving families and seniors living within the Poway Unified School District boundaries. It is helping more than 1,300 families per month. Place donations in vehicle trunk for volunteers to unload. Items needed are canned meats, vegetables, and fruits; pasta and pasta sauces; cereal and oatmeal; sweet and/or salty snacks; peanut butter and jelly. Cash or checks written to made “4 Community Care” also welcome.

Sunday, Sept. 5

BLOOD DRIVE — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5 at the 4S Ranch Boys & Girls Club, 16118 4S Ranch Parkway. Donors will receive a 16-ounce Red Cross campfire mug while supplies last and a coupon for a free haircut at Sport Clips. Donors must bring a blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of ID. They must be 17 or older (16 with parent consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Tuesday, Sept. 7

SUPPORT GROUP — A Parkinson’s Support Group for all North County Inland communities will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 7 in the San Rafael Catholic Church Parish Hall, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive in Rancho Bernardo. Sherrie Gould, a nurse practitioner and Parkinson’s movement disorder specialist, will talk about medications for Parkinson’s disease. FALL CAMPING — The City of Poway is hosting its fall camping series from 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Lake Poway, 14644 Lake Poway Road. Cost is $26 per vehicle. Saturday, Sept. 11

PARADE — The 56th Poway Rotary Parade will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. The parade route is along Poway Road, starting at Pomerado Road and concluding at Bowron Road. The parade is organized by the Rotary Club of Poway-Scripps. Bring lawn chairs for viewing along parade route.

TITAN ALUMNI — The Poway High Alumni Association is holding its Titan Hall of Fame recognition dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, 12280 Greens East Road. FREE CONCERT — The San Diego band Juice Box will open Rancho Bernardo Community Church’s free 2021-22 concert series. The 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12 concert will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall, 17010 Pomerado Road. Juice Box will perform a family-friendly upbeat show of jazz, funk and soul music.
